Pat Clifford graduated from Punahou School in 1952; she immersed herself in Hawaiian culture and was a docent at Iolani Palace and, later on, at Isaacs Art Center. She was in a hula hālau and in 1983 won the hula kahiko division at the Merrie Monarch in Hilo. Pat was a skilled quilter, lauhala weaver, and feather lei maker. She created the three-framed Kamoe-style (rounded) lei offered tonight.
Lei Hulu Kāmoe
Nā lima hulu noʻeau~ skillfully handmade feather work of these beautiful lei hulu kāmoe from the island of Hawaiʻi. This lei is made with hand-dyed goose feathers into a lei representing a time when the abundant feather colors of our native birds were carefully gathered to create amazing wearable lei that represented our aliʻi (chiefs) and our ʻohana (families).
Box measures 14" x 15" with plexiglass shield.
