Representation of Ioane Ukeke, skilled in playing the ukeke (*) and expert court Kumu of hula.
During the reign of King Kalakaua, he was a hula teacher in the royal court, but what made him famous was his showing off in costume, giving him the name “Hawaiian Dandy”, where many times foreigners mistook him for a prince strolling along in his stylish attire; beaver top hat, jacket, lei, monocle, cigar, and his short cane.
